'The best breakfast in Puerto Escondido'
There are few accommodation options offering breakfast in Puerto Escondido, which is one of the features that set Zandoyo apart. In fact, Zandoyo Bed & Breakfast is one of just two or three genuine bed and breakfasts here, an accommodation option in which a full breakfast is included in the room rate.
In our case, being a bed and breakfast in Mexico means our guests are probably going to eat a few tortillas, some chorizo, a lot of salsa, plenty of tomatoes, lots of cheese and at least one of three varieties of beans.
But you can also expect some variations. A mollete made from artisanal seed bread, with mushrooms and olives among the toppings. Sopes topped with bacon and scrambled eggs.
We also specialize in local products, such as mangos from our own tree, farm-fresh eggs and Oaxaca-grown coffee.
Breakfast is served at 9 a.m. daily but we’re flexible. If you’re taking an early-morning marine tour or if you are working remotely and have to take a video call we can adjust the schedule.
But bear in mind that Zandoyo is a traditional bed and breakfast, where guests enjoy breakfast together at the same table.
Conversation can be lively, interesting and fun as travellers from all parts of the world get to know each other over a good meal.
The menu changes each day and is flexible. We can modify our dishes to accommodate most dietary restrictions. Just let us know.

Our enfrijoladas are made with either chicken or braised pork and our own bean recipe, accompanied by whatever we have on hand.
The Zandoyo fruit bowl is always fresh and always changing. We use mango, cantaloupe, watermelon, apples, papaya, pineapple and more. Here the topping is yogurt, granola and hibiscus jam.
We like our scrambled eggs with chunks of tomato and chorizo. Here we have roasted sweet potato rounds with guacamole and some braised pork on top along with toasted seed break and hibiscus jam.
We are big on tacos at Zandoyo! These are tacos dorados with a sweet potato puree topped with a fried egg and some guacamole on the side.
A variation on our breakfast tacos. These usually come with a chicken filling and in this case are accompanied by rosemary potatoes and a jicama and watermelon salad.
Breakfast tacos at Zandoyo come with various toppings such as bacon, chorizo and chicken, all accompanied by refried beans, scrambled eggs and salsa.
