zandoyo has new kitchen but will still offer breakfasts to die for

New kitchen, new rooms and breakfasts to die for

by Tony Richards | Aug 3, 2023 | Blog | 0 comments

The big news at Zandoyo is our new community kitchen, scheduled to be ready by the end of August. The shared kitchen will not replace the 'breakfasts to die for.' It is simply that many people have asked to use our main kitchen to prepare meals we decided it was time to install a kitchen that can be shared by guests.

It is located in the covered area at the rear of the pool patio and equipped with a sink, four-burner gas cooktop, microwave oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, kettle and toaster. There's enough counter space for at least two people to work together comfortably and prepare a meal for eating on the patio, under the palapa or in the dining room. Your choice.

Pots and pans, dishes and cutlery, cooking utensils and kitchen basics such as flour, sugar and other ingredients will be provided for the use of guests.

Breakfasts 'to die for'

The installation of a new kitchen for our guests will have no impact on the now traditional breakfast at Zandoyo. The popular Mexican-themed meal has drawn great reviews on Airbnb, such as that by Jacopo of Mexico City, who wrote in July: "The breakfasts to die for, competing for best restaurant in Puerto Escondido, huge portions, fresh and local products and love in every dish."

From the standpoint of the owner of a traditional B&B, where the second B actually stands for something, the breakfasts are more than just the enjoyment of good food. They bring together complete strangers from various parts of the globe to enjoy good conversation, pleasant company and often a lot of fun.

We continue to add new dishes to our menu: poblano chiles stuffed with scrambled egg and chorizo, ham and egg omelette served with a spicy mango salsa, avocado toast topped with pan-fried mushrooms and red pepper and a fried egg quesadilla with ham and locally-made fresh mozzarella. And all of those dishes come in vegetarian versions.

Our quesadillas are filled with scrambled egg, refried beans, mushrooms, red pepper and manchego cheese and either bacon, ham or chorizo. On the side are servings of guacamole and a jicama-carrot salad.

New guest rooms

Two more guest rooms will be available this fall. A second-floor room we call "Angelina" after Mane's mother, with a queen bed, private bath and view of our neighborhood park, has been upgraded and will be available again. And a small room with a single bed and private bath at the back of the property will also be ready soon.

Demand has been strong so far this year with an occupancy rate of 85% since December 1 and we are already 58% booked for the next six months.

So if you're thinking of traveling to Puerto make your plans soon! As always you can check availability at Airbnb for the two rooms currently listed: https://airbnb.com/h/zandoyo-room2 and https://airbnb.com/h/zandoyo-room3.

Hoping to see you again soon,

Tony & Mane
